Eterna, Castrol engage lubricant distributors to curb adulteration of products, accelerate growth

Eterna Industries Limited, the authorized distributor of Castrol products in Nigeria, on Wednesday, had an intensive dialogue with lubricant distributors across the nation to accelerate business growth and control adulteration of its products.

Castrol, which has been in existence for over 125 years with presence in about 120 countries, has been consistent in protecting engines and industries with its high-quality engine oils, fluids, and greases.

During the 2025 national distributor conference held in Lagos, themed ‘Accelerating growth together,’ the Managing Director of Eterna Industries Limited, Bunmi Agagu-Adu, spoke on the company’s long-term partnership with Castrol and its impact on Nigeria’s economy.

Agagu-Adu said, “The long-term partnership with Castrol started around 1991. For the auto business, we started in 2017 when we began blending Castrol GTX in Nigeria.

“The collaboration has been ongoing for over 30 years, and it gets better. Castrol GTX 20w-50 is very adaptable to most cars in Nigeria.

“The fact that we are manufacturing a world-class lubricant in Nigeria means we are contributing to industrial growth in Nigeria directly. There are other marine products we manufacture here, we are creating employment locally and ensuring that all other things that fit into the supply chain of lubricant distribution are centered here in Nigeria. With this, value is being added here in Nigeria.”

While the need to curb product adulteration was highlighted at the conference, the MD urged distributors and vehicle owners to buy Castrol products from only Eterna Plc retail stations, which are about 83 across the country, or from their sub-distributors for authenticity.

She emphasized that buying through the right source is important in buying the right lubricant to maintain the productivity of vehicles.

The Castrol team assured that more high-quality products of the company will be introduced to the Nigerian market to meet the needs of the citizens.

According to them, Castrol products deploy high technology to ensure quality delivery of products to protect engines.

“We are introducing more products to serve our customers. We are making sure that more of our products are blended in the Nigerian market. This will also boost the Nigerian economy.

“Our heritage is very strong; we leverage high technology for quality products. The high-tech trends and innovation we deploy keep us going and updated in the market for 125 years and more to come,” the Castrol team said.

Also, building on its legacy of innovation, Castrol announced plans to introduce CASTROL ON, its cutting-edge line of advanced e-fluids for electric vehicles, to the Nigerian market. The move underscores Castrol’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s evolving mobility landscape by delivering high-performance solutions tailored to the growing EV segment. By bringing CASTROL ON to Nigeria, Castrol and Eterna aim to position the country’s automotive sector for future-ready energy solutions while reinforcing their shared goal of accelerating sustainable growth.

One of the distributors of Castrol products and a participant at the conference stated that Castrol products are of good quality and should penetrate the market more.

He commended Eterna and Castrol’s collaboration as well as the platform to enlighten distributors about their products and their use, which will be passed on to the end users.

“The product is a good one and I expect that they will push their products more in the market. They need to hit the market for people to know and enjoy their quality products,” he said.

Another participant said pertinent issues on distribution and sales were raised at the conference with solutions for business expansion.

As a new distributor of Castrol products, he said, “this is a very good time to partner with the company as some customers have been requesting their products.”
